Towards a global vision
Research articles developed by Metlab Latam shed light on different initiatives that are part of the panorama of future trends. These techniques and methodologies constitute an essential source of innovation and creativity that can catalyze the design of solutions to help face the significant challenges of humanity.
Article 1: Analysis of content platforms and tools related to future trends
This research intends to shed light on some initiatives that are part of the panorama of future trends products rather than giving an account of an internal process. These techniques and methodologies constitute an essential source of innovation and creativity that can catalyze the design of solutions to face the significant challenges of humanity. First, the products were analyzed in a twelve-criteria matrix; then, seven of these criteria were selected to identify patterns among products; and, finally, based on the results obtained in the two previous steps, the products were organized in a coordinate plane to identify those that will be part of the second research phase, as a reference for the development of a future trends content platform.
Article 2: Definition of information architecture for a content platform based on future trends.
This research paper describes the process that led to the definition of information architecture for a future trends content platform. We first considered the recommendations about the positive and negative aspects identified in the future trends analyzed in the first research phase to achieve our objective. Later, its contents were organized and classified according to keywords to define six clusters and thirty megatrends with their corresponding trends. Defining the information architecture also allowed us to propose a model with the sections that should compose each of the thirty megatrend texts to evaluate its reception among potential users in a third research phase.
Article 3: Reflection on the different ways of perceiving the future.
Throughout this article, we seek to share the reflection process used by the content platform research team, inspired by a generational experiment we performed. This experience led us to begin analyzing different ways we approach the word “future” and how our relationship with this concept determines how we live our present. This experiment also allowed the research team to question the reasons for undertaking the design of a future trends content platform and debate how we could create a trend observatory while remaining a reflection space in which all these different visions and perspectives of the future could converge.
